Funding and tour applications!

We have spent many hours in the past few weeks writing funding applications for various programs. Two were due and submitted this past Friday for the Arts2go tour program and the State Library of Victoria creative fellowships. I swing between feeling hopeful and disheartened about the whole process; we (and so many other people in the arts) put so much time and energy into these applications and may have nothing to show for them.

We have a number of Projects we are seeking support for.

The first is Terra Dysphoria which will  have it's premier season at Theatre Works in late April 2010. Terra Dysphoria will be a play about climate change and its effects on society and individuals, starting
from the late 80s moving through to a fictional future based on current climate change models and the
projected impacts on our local environment. We have been lucky to secure Dr Penny Whetton as a scientific consultant. Dr Whetton is a recipient of the 2007 Noble Prize for Peace for Climate Change awarded jointly to the International Panel on Climate Change and Al Gore.

The second is under the working title of The History of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion and will premier at Theatre Works late September 2010. It will follow the history of the fraudulent anti-Semitic document called The protocols of the Elders of Zion. The piece will investigate the influence the document has had on world politics, prominent public figures and social movements from its earliest dissemination in Europe in the 1890's, to its belated decriminalization in Russia in 1996.
